Same canvas weight and treatment as the 24 m², stronger frame and reinforced ridge to handle the larger span.

What it means in the field

Why 48 m² is the country-office workhorse.

Country-office procurement teams move past the 24 m² as soon as they are sure the response will not be short. A 48 m² unit accommodates the realistic schooling pattern in protracted-displacement settings: a morning shift, a short break, and an afternoon shift, with shared chalkboards and storage. The cost-per-child-place is lower than the 24 m² when utilization runs above 50% — which it does in any response lasting more than three months.

Frame strength is the spec line that differentiates the 48 m² from a pair of 24 m² tents. Doubling the footprint roughly doubles wind-load and triples ridge-load; BNC's 48 m² uses reinforced ridge tubing, cross-brace at mid-span, and heavier corner uprights. The optional twin-pole configuration trades a slightly more complex pitch for a clear interior (no centre pole obstructing the teacher's line of sight).

For CFS programming the 48 m² is the smallest size that comfortably runs three to four simultaneous activity stations with a quiet corner — the configuration most CFS facilitators prefer. Below this size, stations crowd and noise carries.
